Location: south-east corner, junction Croxted Rd and Thurlow Park Road (South Circular) West Dulwich SE21.

Notes: My first blog post! This bell bollard is close to where I live.
Not sure what that crane's up to in the school there. Probably just looking around. I guess.

Welcome to Those Things On Corners

Why this started.

“This is nothing to do with work but I’m guessing you’re the kind of man who might know the answer. Have you ever noticed those things on corners, look like a solid bell? What are they called?” That was my Floridian colleague Adam some years ago. I had noticed them and we both set to googling. It was Adam who found out, via the website of the good people at Furnitubes, what they are called, these objects, and what they are for.

BELL BOLLARDS is what they're called, and as for their function and the reason for the shape, they are better shown than described: Click for Furnitubes video.

I’m very keen to get contributions from others, so if you have pictures of bell bollards please either send them, with accurate description of location please, to enable others to visit and view them when in the area, to bellbollards@gmail.com, or post a link in the comments, and I’ll put ‘em up.
